Privacy policy

Last updated June 23, 2026

Sundown is built to be completely private. Your reflections are yours alone — they stay on your device and in your own iCloud account, and nowhere else.

Your data stays with you

Every check-in, score, tag, and highlight is stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so it stays in step across your devices. It lives in your private iCloud database — only you can reach it. Sundown has no servers of its own, and we cannot see, collect, or transmit your reflections.

No Sundown account, no tracking

Sundown does not require an account of its own — syncing uses the iCloud account already signed in on your device. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers. We do not know who you are or that you use the app.

Apple Health

If you enable Apple Health, Sundown reads only the metrics you turn on — steps, active energy, exercise, sleep, and mindful minutes — and only to display them next to that day. Access is read-only: Sundown never writes to Health. These values are read live each time you view a day and are never stored, saved to your entries, or synced to iCloud. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device. No reminder information is sent anywhere.

Your control

Deleting the app removes the copy on your device. Because your reflections also sync to iCloud, copies remain in your iCloud account until you remove the app's data there, in Settings → your name → iCloud. Your data may also be included in device backups (for example iCloud or Finder backups). All iCloud storage is governed by Apple's privacy practices, not ours.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date.
